Our Process
You don't hire a builder. You hire a team.
Ours handles design, engineering, and construction under one roof, so you have one number to call from your first phone consultation to the day we hand you the keys. Here's how a project moves from idea to finished home with Botello Builders.
1. Phone Consultation & Preliminary Estimate
We start with a conversation. Tell us what you're thinking — a full remodel, an addition, a custom build — and what's driving it. We'll ask about your timeline, your goals for the space, and your rough budget. By the end of the call, you'll have a preliminary estimate and a clear sense of whether we're the right fit. No charge for this step.
Here’s a closer look at our meticulous approach:
2. Site Visit & Measurements
If the numbers work and we both want to move forward, we come to you. We measure the space, photograph existing conditions, and walk through every detail of what you want to change. This is where we catch the things a phone call can't — load paths, plumbing constraints, slab conditions, what's hiding behind the drywall. You'll leave this visit with a refined scope and a real understanding of what your project will involve.
3. Design Phase
Once you sign the design agreement, our team goes to work. We design in-house using SketchUp, so you get 3D renders of your actual home, not stock images of someone else's. You'll see the new kitchen from every angle. You'll see how light moves through the addition at 3pm. You'll catch the things you'd otherwise only notice after the walls are up. Most design phases take one to two weeks from kickoff to finished package. Faster than most firms because design, engineering, and construction all happen under one roof.
4. Final Construction Contract
When the design is approved, we put together the construction contract. This includes the full scope, mood boards, material specifications, finish selections, and detailed line items so nothing is left to interpretation. Every contract includes detailed milestones aligned with the project schedule, so the exact number of payments and timing of each one is clear from day one. You'll know what's included, what isn't, and exactly what you're paying for at every stage. If your project requires permits, we handle the submittal, plan check responses, and inspections. We'll walk you through the timeline and any jurisdictional steps that apply.
5. Material Ordering & Build
Once the contract is signed and permits are in hand, we order materials and start construction. You'll have a dedicated project manager as your direct point of contact, regular site updates, and a clear schedule. Subcontractors are coordinated by us. Inspections are scheduled by us. Problems get solved by us. You live your life. We build your home.
6. Final Walkthrough & Warranty
Before we call a project complete, we walk it with you. Anything that doesn't meet our standard or yours goes on the punch list and gets corrected before final payment. After move-in, we stay available for warranty items and any questions about how things work. Why design-build matters Most remodels fail at the handoff. The architect blames the builder. The builder blames the designer. The homeowner ends up in the middle, paying for change orders that never should have happened. We eliminate the handoff. Design, engineering, and construction live on the same team, with one accountable point of contact from start to finish. Fewer surprises, faster decisions, one team responsible for the outcome.
